Sexual Harassment is unwanted and
unwelcome behaviour of a sexual nature. Sexual
Harassment comes in many forms such as:
-
leers or stares
-
touches or brushes against your body
-
persistence after you have said ‘no’
-
dirty jokes told in your presence
-
display of offensive material
-
unwelcome comments or personal questions
-
use of intimidation to gain sexual gratification
State and Commonwealth legislation outlaws sexual harassment as a form of sexual
discrimination. LEST takes its obligation under this legislation very seriously. LEST will not tolerate
sexual harassment.
If you believe you are being or have been sexually harassed, it is suggested you take the following
steps:
-
tell the person you find their behaviour offensive. Keep a record of the incident;
-
talk to the LEST Training Manager for advice and support in dealing with the feelings caused by
the harassment.
